Day Zero—Monday, August 1, part 2—Jasper, Alberta
75 degrees in the afternoon, intermittent thunderstorms; 0 miles
Spent a good chunk of the day assembling and adjusting the bikes. They got rattled around and repackaged by US inspection so they didn’t arrive fully protected. Noreen’s new bike has new scratches. But they still roll.
Carolyn at Papa George’s provided great service while sharing insights on experiences with brown bears & planting trees to reforest logged areas. Thx Carolyn!
Mark and I did a 6km ride up to Pyramid and Patricia Lakes just north of town. Pyramid Peak should be in the dictionary next to the word "mountain."
Picked up a few supplies (bear spray!), got our Jasper National Park pass, and had dinner at the Whistlestop pub where the poutine was homemade and delish.
