1985 cross-country bike ride from San Diego to Boston

After I met up with Tim Tiernan in Lone Pine, CA in spring of 1985, we joined forces with Kai and Sven in Death Valley. Days were over 100 degrees: we biked through the valley at 5 am and hung out during the day in the next campground pool for $1. We called ourselves the Mood Rainbow Racing Team after "Mood Rainbow" a two-piece band with a drum machine that we encountered in a local tavern.
